Rise and shine at any one of Troup County’s lodging accommodations. Select the breakfast that best suits your hunger, from Starbuck’s to IHOP to a diner where the locals chat over eggs and coffee. Your day of art is about to begin.
The next stop is The LaGrange Art Museum in downtown LaGrange. The museum occupies a renovated three-story 1892 Victorian building that once served as the county jail. Changing exhibits feature a wide range of artists. The Cochran Gallery, located on the Square, has limited hours but is a “must see” as it features the renowned collections of a local couple.
After a morning at the museum, walk across the street for lunch at Mighty Joe’s Pizza, where you’ll find the best calzones around. After lunch, head to Main Street stores Stephen’s Exclusives, The White Orchid, Tournesol, Plum Southern and Marketplace at Lafayette Square. All these stores carry the impressive work of local artists. Head to historic downtown Hogansville, just north of LaGrange on a relaxing country road to The Hogansville Coffee Company, a bookstore and gallery. Take in the other galleries and antique stores as well.
For your evening meal, downtown LaGrange offers a wonderful variety of dining options. Sip a glass of wine at the bar at C’Sons before heading to the table for a delightful farm-to-table meal. If Italian is more your speed Venucci’s offers a wide selection of authentic dishes sure to please. For a more casual experience try Mare Sol, Blondi Roux or the Brickhouse. All offer great meals in a hip environment. After dinner, take in a musical performance or play. Troup County abounds with talent and big stage productions.
