Why Do A Ribbon Cutting?
Draw attention to your new business or celebrate a groundbreaking or anniversary! For hundreds of years, ribbon-cutting ceremonies have highlighted the opening of new buildings and businesses. Most often, the ceremony is conducted in just the manner as the name suggests—by tying a ceremonial ribbon across the main entrance of the building, which is then cut with fanfare by a group of dignitaries to signify a new beginning and to declare the establishment open and ready for business.
The Details:
Ribbon Cuttings and Groundbreakings can be scheduled on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Events must be scheduled two weeks prior to the desired date.
Chamber Diplomats, staff and board members will be on hand to attend the event. You can count on approximately 10 people from the Chamber to be in attendance. Submit your event information to the local media. Please note, the Chamber cannot guarantee media coverage.
Make sure and invite your customers, clients, employees, friends and family to help you celebrate!
Food is not required for the event but if you do schedule it close to a mealtime, you might consider offering something light to eat. The Chamber is happy to provide you with members who can help you with catering.
The Chamber will take pictures of your event to send to all local news outlets. Additionally, photos and an announcement will be posted on all Chamber social media accounts and in Troup Trends.
The Chamber will bring the ribbon and scissors.
After the Ribbon Cutting:
Continue to be active in the Chamber and promote your business! We have a wide variety of networking and educational events just for you. Stay up to date with our weekly newsletter and calendar.
The following is a typical ceremony:
11:30 a.m. Arrival of Guests
11:30 – 11:45 a.m. Networking
11:45 – 11:50 a.m. Line up for photo(s), brief speech/remarks by company reps and Chamber Chairman
11:50 Pictures and Cutting of the Ribbon
11:55 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Refreshments, Tours, Networking, etc.
